Student attendance remains a challenge for our students, especially during a global pandemic. Students with great attendance receive monthly recognition and students who are approaching chronic absences work daily to improve their attendance at school. The stickers are a fun and easy way students receive recognition on their daily attendance charts. In the past, students often receive candy rewards. Using sensory based awards will provide recognition for students and a useful item to reduce stress at school and home. When asking students what is something they would like to work for, the majority of students name sensory based materials such as pop its, stress balls, and other fidgets.
