My students are many, with over 1,200 students that I serve in my school. As the behavior specialist, I work with students who often have special needs, and so teaching them requires special techniques. When behaviors impact learning, it affects not just a single student, but often a whole class including the teacher. These students usually have a desire to learn, but sometimes get frustrated because they lack the tools needed to be successful such as social skills, self-regulatory strategies, and even the academic skills that are needed to be on grade level. Through Donor's Choose projects, I can request access to materials that can help not only a single child with their behavior problems, but can help an entire classroom have access to a healthier, more successful opportunity to learn.
