All of my little captains in my class have autism and are below grade level. They learn through visuals and being highly engaged in different activities. There curriculum is taught using a program called ULS. This exposes them to the same standards as their typical peers but at their level. As we sailed into the new school year we have tried many of the activities as printouts that they have either had to write on or cut and this does not keep them interested in the activites. The program provides us with the same work in an idoc document which is interactive. Only problem is my captains don't know how to use a mouse. It would be helpful to have the mimiotech interactive whiteboard because it will allow them to participate in small and large group, work on fine motor skills, waiting skills, turn taking, and raising their hands. Working on all these skill will help them in the future with getting placed in a less restricted environment.
