No student truly dislikes reading, they just need guidance finding the right book. By providing students with access to books of a variety of backgrounds, they will be more likely to pick up a book and read. With access to materials like the Amazon Kindle, students can also locate many free electronic books. Students who struggle with reading can also utilize applications that read books aloud such as Audible and Overdrive. Students do have access to Chromebooks in the classroom. However, most times they are not able to be used during Independent Reading time for leisure reading. By providing these materials for my students, I will be able to better provide for them opportunities to explore a world outside of their own as well as to see children who resemble them in the books that they pick up.
