These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. More importantly, they focus on developing self esteem, growth mindset and confidence for my students! All of these books have been chosen with care to represent different children, frustrations they might encounter, and how to develop GRIT. First graders need help figuring out how to overcome frustrations while learning, build confidence to take risks, and ultimately succeed! Books such as Not Yet or The Bubble Gum Brain will be used as read alouds or during independent reading to launch discussion and help provide a model for developing the grit needed to succeed in our classroom and in life.
