I am fortunate to be working with a wonderful group of enthusiastic second graders at my school. Most of my students live in the inner city areas of Boston, MA. and face financial and academic challenges, yet they arrive bright and early every morning eager to learn and do their best. They are a diverse group of students who enjoy reading and discussing stories, role playing, art, math, and working in small groups. They are always willing to brainstorm solutions to issues inside the classroom and on the playground. One of their biggest hurdles is limited academic resources and furniture in the classroom. They are our future lawyers, engineers, teachers, doctors, politicians, and sport stars. I am confident that if they are provided with the necessary supplies they will achieve their full potential inside and outside of the classroom and become productive students and citizens of their communities.
