My school is made up mostly of low income Hispanic children. The students come from hard working families that are trying to make a better life for their kids. They all have awesome personalities and always brighten my day. They face many problems that children should never have to face but you would never know it because of their big smiles and their love for life and art. Most of the student's parents have only completed high school. We are always trying to find ways to keep the kids in school and value an education. Most of the kids’ favorite subject in school is art. I started the art program at the school and have watched the students turn into wonderful artists. For the last few years we have only had paper, markers, crayons, scissors, and glue. I have found many new ways to use these materials but this is the first year we have really gotten into sculpture and 3D art thanks to our kiln and clay. But we need the glaze to paint our beautiful pottery.
