Having the supplies and materials necessary for students success is extremely important. Without the proper tools, the ability to think and explore outside the box would be diminished. By having a kidney table, I will have multiple students to work with at that station with me to provide extra help and support for the students that need it. Creativity in the classroom and student engagement is a must for second grade, so by providing them with dry erase boards and markers to use for games, math, sight word practice, et cetera, will allow them to be more enticed to learn and participate with the activities. My favorite things to do with the dry erase boards is to have them solve math problems individually, then when they have solved the problem, they raise their boards up and show me. Once everyone has answered we go through the problem together all the while having fun. These dry erase markers are wonderful because they already have a small eraser attached to the marker itself so it will be easier to pass out supplies when we do what to use the boards, and everyone is guaranteed an eraser. Having the clipboards will give my students the comfort of being able to write and work around the room instead of being confined to their desks. I would also use them for jobs that are given to my students. A student would have a checklist for their job and give a check for those students who have done what they needed to do. As a first year teacher, I want to be able to make a difference in a child's education, so by having the equipment to do that will help enhance the affect I have on my students and their successful year in second grade!
