Students need well-rounded experiences to develop into well-rounded individuals. I would like my 5th graders to experience an outside learning environment by taking them to Outdoor Science School. During Science Camp, students will use the natural environment as their laboratory while learning about ecological concepts while they explore and study a variety of ecosystems through first-hand experiences. Students learn responsibility as they take care of themselves and gain respect for others by sharing a living space. My students are not coming from a background that gives them a lot of hands-on educational experiences. Help me give them this experience. In addition to fun, hands-on science lessons, students will participate in additional camp activities such as cabin living, eating community meals, team building initiatives, science-themed all day picnic hikes, sing-a-longs, campfires, bouldering, and climbing walls, skit nights, night hikes and tons more fun activities! I was fortunate enough to attend an overnight Science Camp when I was their age as a student in the same district. I would love to share this experience with them. My class has done a lot of fundraising over the last 4 months and we have received some donations from parents and the community. I would like to give this experience to all of my students, not just those that can afford it. With your generous help, my dream will become a reality.
