My sixth grade students attend an urban, Title 1 school where over 90% speak English as a second language and receive free or reduced price lunch. They have minimal parental support and their parents work several jobs simply to put food on the table. So much time is spent making sure that they can read and do math at grade level, that they often miss out on the exciting parts of school. My goal is to make lessons memorable and engaging each day so that these students will excel and make a better life for themselves.
