Reading is a fundamental skill for future success in life. When they read in class (which is everyday), students will use the Post- Its to annotate their text. My students need to understand what they are reading, make connections, and draw conclusions. Some of my students are reading two to three grade levels below their current grade level. I will implement this strategy to help them comprehend what is written in a text and also what is implied. Success in all classes depends on a student's reading proficiency. Some would even argue success in life overall depends on your ability to read and comprehend. Multiple colors of Post-Its are needed because each one signifies a different level of understanding that will be required for reading. Pens will be used to make sure students have the tools necessary to annotate daily. By donating, you will help students learn to utilize the skills of annotating and increase their reading comprehension. Both of these will have a lifetime impact in their lives.
