I teach 2nd graders who are primarily ESL students. My students live in a high poverty area. Reading and listening to stories is an integral part of the school day. We are currently attempting to build "stamina" in reading. My students know that in order to build stamina they must read to themselves and each other for 15 minutes daily. They generally like to sit on the floor to read. Even though we have carpeting, the floor is not the most comfortable place to be. I would like to purchase bean bag chairs and softer cushions for the students to use when they are trying to build stamina.
