I have the absolute pleasure to teach ESL at a school in Richmond, Virginia. We have a very diverse population. During the school closures, our students suffered immensely emotionally. I focused on their social-emotional learning and found this was a key in motivating students. This next school year, I want to continue to implement SEL into my classroom by adding materials, posters, ambiance, and an overall welcoming atmosphere. This is the first year that we are implementing AVID Excel. I m excited about using this new ESL curriculum and having an SEL focus for my students. Their success is imminent!
