The students at my urban elementary school are AMAZING! They are curious, fun-loving and very eager to learn. In my classroom, we start each session with vocabulary "words of the day". Learning academic vocabulary, especially in the focus areas of math and science, can be very difficult for students with language impairments. I am always seeking new and exciting ways for my students to learn word meanings, but my resources are limited. Unfortunately, new technology is sparse because we are a Title I school with few resources. Most of these children do not own a computer at home or have limited access at best. They are always saying "what does it look like" or "I don't know what that is". Drawings or pictures can only do so much. They would be absolutely thrilled to access math and science vocabulary through the use of this wonderful technology.
