Combs Elementary is a high-poverty Missouri public school in the Ferguson-Florissant district. For many of our students, elementary music class will be their only music education. Finances and time constraints do not afford many the opportunity for band, orchestra, or outside music lessons. Music stimulates higher level thinking. When students make music, their brains are actively involved on many levels. Music education can help achievement across subject areas and help create well-educated, confident adults.
