Every morning my students come to the big carpet in the front of the classroom. They love to buddy-read as well as sustained silent reading. They are curious readers and they take immense pride when they complete reading a book. Majority of them come from under privileged families of low income neighborhood in Bay area California. Unfortunately majority of my students do not have access to books at home. I cannot let my students take the books home from our classroom library since lot of books are not guided leveled books and majority of them are borrowed y me from public library. I would like to provide my budding readers Take Home Books on weekly basis and continue to enjoy, develop, and accelerate their reading levels. This will not only give me students abundant opportunity to enjoy the reading at their own pace and at their own convenient time at home but it will also create a School -to-Home- Connect involving families in their reading goals.
