At a suburban public school, the students in my 1st grade classroom come from diverse backgrounds. They have various academic, social-emotional, physical, and socioeconomic needs, some needing speech services while others are on behavior plans. It is imperative that we have what we need to meet these needs in the classroom. They are a wonderful, energetic group of 10 boys and 10 girls, and to help them maintain their positive attitudes and bubbly personalities, we want to ensure all of their needs are met throughout the day. Some students need encouragement and gentle reminders to stay on task, and this requires engaging and differentiated instruction! They come in every morning with a ready-to-learn attitude, and we want to help them maintain that by keeping their focus on learning and having fun. We do not want them to have to worry about anything else throughout the day!
