I teach 24 wonderful, 2nd grade students who are eager to learn. My classroom has a wide range of ability levels. It is my job to help each student learn on their level in a fun, engaging environment. Among different ability levels they also come with different backgrounds and "real-world" challenges. Some of my students have to worry about food or where they are going to sleep that night. Our suburban elementary school consists of 59% Caucasian students, 26% African American students, 9% Multiracial students, 3% Asian students, and 3% Latino or Hispanic students. Of our diverse population, 49% are female and 51% are males. Currently, 57% of our population receives free or reduced lunch.
