The materials that I am requesting are a frame for a therapeutic sensory swing and a platform swing attachment. The therapeutic sensory swing will be used to provide sensory input for all of my students to help them regulate their bodies in order to b Sensory integration: Sensory input is the raw material for brain development and learning. Swinging helps with sensory integrate which provides a crucial foundation for later and more complex learning and behavior. This is the process of the brain organizing and interpreting the information from sensory experiences. Sensory experiences include touch, movement, body awareness, sight, sound and the pull of gravity. The sensing systems most affected by swinging are the vestibular system, visual perception and proprioception. The influence of these systems plays a major role in the developmental milestones of sensory processing and gross motor skills for children. Mandy students have been carried out on how sensory integration even contributes to speech and language development. Relaxation: Swinging is a rhythmic activity, which has great settling effects. Rhythmic motions send messages to the brain which is calming. If a child is having trouble with emotional regulation or focus/concentration, encouraging them to swing can provide a good solution. It helps resolve anxiety, aggression, or lack of focus/short attention span.
