Reading is an experience that is unique to each student and situation. Books and the characters found within them can help illustrate what is going on in our world in a way that makes sense to them. I have no doubt that this project will positively impact my students by giving them the opportunity to interact with and learn from picture books. Picture books are a great tool to teach students valuable lessons. Not only about reading skills, but also real world events. Picture books engage students and start meaningful conversations. The books I have chosen had diverse characters from all backgrounds that I know my students will feel represented by!
