I teach 6th grade and teach Language Arts and Social Studies. Students come to our school from 4 feeder elementary schools in the area. I am in a small suburban area 20 miles west of a major city in our state. We have 862 students with an average class size of 30-32. Socioeconomically, groups range from the upper end of the spectrum to the lower end of the spectrum, and we have a 13% unemployment rate in our county. Our biggest challenge is getting curriculum support materials to match the new Common Core.
