In my classroom, technology is a tool for empowerment—it creates a collaborative and innovative space for all students. Because of the nature of some of their disabilities, my students struggle with communication. Group work can be difficult. Some students have insightful thoughts to share but are reluctant to speak up in class, and my outgoing students need to take more time to craft their responses. Technology helps all students work through their challenges. With the use of headphones students can access the materials needed with minimal distractions. A new class set of headphones would benefit all participants in the program .
