Having individual copies will allow students to take books home and read even when they're not at school. This helps develop accountability for reading in students, as well as the stamina so desperately needed at higher levels of learning. These books will be used in a multi-level classroom and allow stronger and weaker students to experience a whole novel together and build on each other's schema. Without each student having a copy, precious time is lost reading in class or catching students up with plot highlights. With every student having a copy, then remediation can happen more flexibly.
