Throughout the day, my students participate in various types of collaborative learning. Groups are constantly changing with each subject and currently with our clunky, metal chairs it is difficult to smoothly transition to different areas of the room. In addition, students cannot sit comfortably and concentrate when I am directly teaching in front of the class. Creating an environment of choice and comfort will help cultivate learning for my students. With these new tractor seats, students will share them, collaborate in them, self-regulate their choices for the day, and engage in learning. Flexible seating will empower my students to take ownership of their education. In addition to these tractor seats, I would love a class set of clipboards that will encourage movement throughout the day. Many lessons take place outside but my students need the ability to record observations while out of the classroom. This tool will allow my students to engage in more hands-on projects that take place outside the traditional classroom.
