Our school is 75% Hispanic and the majority of students are bilingual. English is not the first language for many of our students. The language barrier can be difficult when teaching math so I try to get as much reading and writing as I possibly can into the classroom. As a school, we are not making AYP, but we are increasing our scores each year. The more we can get our students to read and write, the more we are seeing our students excel.
