Engaging anyone is the key to keeping their attention. But this can be a problem (in this day of technology) without movement, novelty, color and prior planning. I already use these items in my classroom and they allow me to engage my students in a world of opportunistic, fun learning. Many times, they do not realize how quickly time has passed because they are enjoying the activities laid out for them. Each item on this list was carefully selected to enrich their learning environment. I am asking for stress balls to fulfill the need for their brain to move while seated, colored supplies to use as novelties that help them to recall important information, and incentives to encourage students to meet their learning expectations. Cleaning supplies is always a must, especially during flu season, and tissue is that one small touch that can make a world of difference to a stressed or sick student.
