I teach in a very low income school. All students come from various backgrounds. While some students have accessibility to technology, many may not. Why limit the students to the county they live in when they can explore the whole word through project based learning? With project based learning, students come up with their own question they want to explore and from there they explore. Whether it be using encyclopedias, maps, history books, or technology, the students have the choice of their method of research as well as their method of presentation. While we do have many resources available, we do not have much technology. In my classroom there are four computers. Although extremely helpful, computers do not allow for much collaboration like tablets do. Not only do the students need to learn about the world around them and explore, they need to learn to collaborate and work with others. For these reasons and many more, I know Chromebooks would greatly benefit my students.
