In first grade, organization is a hard skill to master. Yes, we need to learn how to do it, but we also need to remember that they are only 6-7 years old. Having a desk with wide open space is a lot for a first grader to manage. The desk becomes a deep, dark cave that some how also turns into a black hole where everything disappears to. This makes it very hard to have good classroom management as a teacher. Every time you ask them to get something out of their desk, it takes them 5-10 minutes to find it (at least it seems that long haha). It also takes away so much learning time from my students.
By donating to my project you will be helping my students get their learning time back and keep their daily routine organized. By using the chair pockets, students will be able to keep all of their workbooks, and folders in one place, instead of scattered throughout the dark cave. The chair pockets will also make it easier for my students to know exactly where their items are at so they can "grab 'n' learn".
I have noticed through out my years of teaching, if students have a neat and organized work space, they are more calm throughout the day and are less likely to become overwhelmed. Organization is a key to learning and having great success!
