The diverse population of students I teach are from an urban setting, from a mixture of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. They enjoy academics, sports, and other activities that young people enjoy. Many of the students are from a low-income home and are on free and reduced lunch. Education is important to these public charter school students and their families. The school I teach at has a 100% college acceptance record for all graduating students. High expectations are set, and students enjoy the push and excel in their academics and confidence, as a result. Instruction is focused on individual needs and a parent-teacher-student myriad. With Common Core Standards implementation being mandatory, high-level thinking is encouraged and integrated into all subject areas. Teachers differentiate instruction based on student needs and levels, and have a high level of care for each and every student. Both teachers and students are highly valued at this school.
