Reading and classwork can be a daily struggle in classrooms across the country. The idea and point behind my reading and work center is to make it a safe, fun, enjoyable place to read and finish assignments while using alternative seating. In my classroom we do A LOT of partner and group work, allowing students options and selections on where they sit or even what they sit on can make these projects so much more enjoyable! Also, children do not have access to books or do not enjoy reading at all! This is a shame. The idea behind this reading and working center also allows children an ideal place to enjoy a good book when the time is right! Bright and soft seating with a variety of pillows and comfortable lighting can make the difference in a child's reading experience. I want my students to enjoy reading and working in my classroom with student choice and alternative seating!
