Our school library serves over 500 students, Kindergarten through fifth grade. I feel the library is a space that should be inviting to all students. I want them to enjoy the library and feel comfortable in it. After checking out books or engaging in a lesson, students like to spread out on the floor around the room to read or reflect. We also have the littles sit on the floor to listen to read-alouds. Right now, we only have those big, wooden tables and chairs you would see in a public or university library. By providing some colorful, enjoyable, and cozy seating, I hope to create a space that encourages more tranquility, well-being, and reading.
