Follow my class on twitter @P721K_SCANA ---At P721K my students participate in the SCANA Program. SCANA uses public, institutional art and art along the the NYC Transit system to help my students learn skills for social-emotional independence, self-advocacy, and vocational readiness. SCANA allows my students with profoud disabilities to take ownership of their future by understanding concepts of self-control, communication, navigation and advocacy they learned while studying artists and their processes. At P721K in NYC our student population is 100% Students with Profound Disabilities. My students have goals of having a meaningful and successful future. Kinesthetic lessons that promote interaction with their own ideas, their peers and community are key to their success. The students in my school teach the staff new things every day about life that we would have never learned otherwise.
