In ELA, modeling a skill or strategy is key to demonstrate to scholars clearly what is expected of them. During Reader's and Writer's Workshop, my scholars are learning to make purposeful annotations while reading. This helps scholars to think critically and improve their close reading skills. A document camera will help me to model for my scholars and help them understand how to read, interpret, and analyze material - a key skill in all aspects of ELA. My scholars are expected to jot down their ideas while reading Fiction, Nonfiction, and mentor texts. Annotation helps us to read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and makes logical inferences from it. Being able to model this skill for my scholars is key to their success in this skill. Furthermore, this will help them to succeed in other subjects -- Social Studies, Science, and Math! Help me to meet the needs of my scholars!
