My students come from diverse backgrounds; half of them are English Language learners, with eight different languages represented. Our school is a Title One school, with 75% of the students receiving free lunches. Most of the students do not have art materials at home, and their only opportunity to explore art is in the classroom. Unfortunately, we have very little funding for art supplies and don't have items that are very basic needs, such as drawing paper. This year, I have personally funded the purchase of crayons, markers, folders, paper and glue sticks for the students. We are in need of more materials for a well-rounded art program. My students would greatly appreciate having access to art materials that would allow them to explore and create.
