Our "second chance" inner city charter school provides a learning opportunity for students who have not succeeded in the public school system. Our mission is "to ignite a love of learning in all students, regardless of their educational backgound." Over 90% of our students are entitled to free lunches, almost 100% of our students are minorities, and 40% of our students are special needs. Yet, our students out perform local and state-wide public schools. My emphasis is on hands-on, inquiry based instruction and tieing academics to real world applications. My classroom is lively, full of engaged students pursuing their learning objectives. We are conducting more and more of our lessons outside the classroom walls - both virtually and actually.
