The first graders in my class this year have had a unique school experience. Their kindergarten experience was during the COVID pandemic. One of the challenges during the pandemic has been to get actual, physical books into the hands of children. Libraries of all sorts – class libraries, take-home books, school and local library services were very limited. This year, my students are so excited to be able to access actual, physical books! Reading is the first thing my students do each morning, after greeting their friends. They look forward to read aloud time, as well as sharing their own stories with the class. They are inspired to write their own stories by some of the amazing stories that were read to them. They know their favorite authors and books. Your support will fuel the fire of enthusiasm for reading that has been engendered this year!
