I am asking for two Jabra headsets to aid some very special students in our school. Our country began as a melting pot and to this day, so are our schools. I am grateful for the opportunity to work in a school full of children from different backgrounds. Many times these children have moved from their homes not knowing how to speak English. Of course, they still need to enter school and learn what the other students are learning. This is where our incredible staff shines! We all, on a daily basis, teach these children English, and the growth in their language development is truly a sight to see. The most difficult time, however, is when the students first arrive. They have no idea what others are saying to them, and some students have a difficult time adjusting. The headphones I am asking for would allow the students to hear everything the teacher says in their native language. Simple conversations, directions, and lessons can be communicated and help the students feel not so overwhelmed. This simple tool would be a starting point from which every new student could learn English at a much more comfortable rate. Hearing and trying to understand a foreign language for many hours a day is mentally (and physically) draining. These headphones would allow our newcomers a chance to connect their language to the English language, increasing their motivation to learn. Thank you for considering a donation to my project!
