My Sixth Graders are very energized students who are developing their own identities though out the year. They inspire me to be a better teacher, and to challenge their minds with deep problem solving and exciting experiments. They love to learn through hands-on, inquiry based activities, but they also love to read! I am very proud to say that the Sixth Grade in my school is more that just a classroom and grade level, it is a team. The students have adopted a mentality that they are all responsible for everyone learning in the classroom. They share their opinions, encourage each other to do their best, assist struggling students, and cheer for each other’s successes. We do many team-building activities and community service learning in the school and the surround communities. My students come from very diverse backgrounds; many speak two languages, and come from all over the globe. My school is in an urban city close to Boston, with 52% of student receiving free lunch.
