Celebrate our rockin' achievements as Rock 'n Roll Readers! I am the media specialist in a PK-5 elementary school in Georgetown County. As part of our school-wide reading incentive to "Grow Great Readers" and our Accelerated Reader (AR) Program, our reading committee created a reading incentive program. As students read AR books and pass comprehension tests on these books, they earn points which accumulate throughout the year, earning level recognition. As students reach each level their achievements are announced on the morning news show and an incentive (bookmarks, zipper pulls, water bottles, etc.) are delivered to them. The faculty at McDonald Elementary understands the importance of developing good reading skills and habits early in education. It is our belief that we are providing our students with every opportunity to become productive members of society, with reading being the heart and soul.
