Students with autism require multi-sensory learning opportunities in order to fully access the general and special education curriculum and reach their maximum potential. As such these learners need visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile strategies that allows them to engage with the concepts and content addressed. We are located in a large public elementary school that contains a typical education population, as well as a significant special education presence including a city-wide Autism Program. My students are an amazing group of eager learners with a wide range of skills and abilities. These students are working on large range goals, from maintaining joint attention, to developing motor skills, to number concepts, up to building words and beginning reading skills.
