Our first grade students can be summed up in one word: amazing. They are always positive, smiling, full of energy and have a real hunger for learning. Most of them come from low-income homes, so their experiences outside Brooklyn are limited. Despite this, they have a deep interest in beaches, oceans and anything related to these topics. Half of our class is made up up children with special needs, so hands-on learning is an essential part of our classroom. Their inquisitive minds are always asking more questions and with these materials they will learn a plethora of new information. We dedicate a whole month to reading, writing and learning about the ocean, so these supplies will support every student and every subject area.
