My students need twenty-seven desks. The tables that my students currently sit at are nice for conversation and discussion. However, they are not ideal for their own personal space and storage. Right now my students have seat sacks to store some of their books and belongings. The other half of their belongings and books are put into bins which are located underneath their seats.
My students really need their own personal space. When they are in a big class, there are sometimes up to 6 students at a table. They feel as if they do not have enough room to work. They ask if they can move to the back of the room where they feel they have more space. The seat sacks on the backs of each chair have been re-used for many years and are now falling apart. The bins break during the year and have to be bought again every summer. Having desks would ensure the students have one area in which they can fit all of their belongings and not have to turn around to get their materials from the seat sack or reach underneath their seats to get materials from their bins.
