The students in our public school district are middle to lower class students who do not like to read. They would much rather go hunting, fishing, or ride an ATV. With the push to get students to higher academic levels, one way to improve their reading is by giving them selected material that they enjoy reading. If we can get them to practice this skill, we will see improvements in achievement. Students will have the skills necessary to read grocery list, instructional manuals, college textbooks, and any book for pure enjoyment. The key is to get them to start picking up a book. The selection of books that I am asking for covers a wide range of topics that are interesting to our students.
