I am a first grade teacher in an elementary school in a rural county in North Carolina. We are a Title I, Equity Plus school where 75% of the students here are on either free or reduced lunch. These little ones come from extremely impoverished homes and their families often do not have enough money for food or clothing. I spend a great deal of my own money on consumables such as crayons, pencils, and glue. So anything else I need to buy is, of course, a struggle.

About my class
