Students with Special Needs require repeated practice to learn new skills. These skills must be presented in engaging ways to keep the students interested in the content and prevent boredom. They also require reliable technology that will work consistently, if they are to take advantage of the many web-based activities that help work on academic skills. With these new Chromebooks, my students will gain access to web-based texts, programs, and interactive games where they can practice needed skills. They would be able to use the Chromebooks whenever they have additional time in their classes, and work on weak academic areas independently. Chromebooks can help my class become gold star students! Along with interactive programs, my students would be able to use the many Google apps and extensions to give the better access to web-based content. My students are most excited about the screen-readers, apps that change text to font that helps with dyslexia, and the extension that removes distracting pictures/ads from websites and keeps only important content.
