I teach approximately 25 creative and ambitious first-graders in an urban, magnet school. Our school's focus is humanities. In addition to learning the core subjects (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies), my students are also learning Mandarin Chinese. Even though two-thirds of the students at my school are eligible for free or reduced lunch, our school consistently scores high on state assessments. Our students' success can be attributed to their work ethic and our school's rigorous curriculum.

About my class
