The goal for this project is two-fold. First, by reading books written by #ownvoices authors, students will have the opportunity to learn more about themselves and the people around them. Second, students often feel as though the their opinions and their actions do not matter. By reading books that provide examples where the thoughts and actions of other teens were able to bring about change and promote the cause of social justice, I hope that they are inspired to take action on their owns. The books will serve as ways of connecting students with both their peers and the world around them, helping to make that world a better place.
