As with many school districts, we have been faced with budget freezes and lack of funds. Students have been forced to share the few calculators that we have. It is essential that the students have the proper tools available to them in order to complete the necessary coursework. I teach high school Algebra to freshmen. Many of the students are college-bound. Our school is located in a historic seaport in South Carolina which the student population is rapidly growing. Having such a large number of students and a short supply of materials makes it difficult for the students to get the proper quality of education that they need. My students are attempting to follow a college-prep curriculum and it is important that they have the materials required.
