My Biology students are incredible young minds who, unfortunately, have had very limited opportunities to explore the world beyond their community. Many of them have never seen what’s under a microscope, and some don’t even know what a cell truly looks like. They are often amazed to learn that DNA exists all throughout their body – simple facts like these fascinate them because it’s their first time learning about them in such a real and meaningful way.
Despite the many challenges of bringing the real world into our classroom, my students remain optimistic, curious, and motivated to understand the world around them. I believe they are bright and capable kids. They just need adequate support, proper guidance, and access to hands-on materials that will help them grasp reality, ignite their love for science, and prepare them for the future.
