The majority of scholars are from a community that makes them and their families resilient, but exposes them to situations that force them to grow up way too fast. Although, the students have great potential to excel, they are not reminded often enough of their greatness. Therefore, in our school we push everyday to build them up and break them from a mentality that life begins and ends just with their neighborhood. Our colors are purple and black telling, letting them know that they are descendants of royalty and our motto "connected to succeed," to inform them that we are apart the greater puzzle. Our students many times are carrying the burdens of their families crises on their back and their pysche, so much so that we've made it a point to focus not only academic success but on their social emotional well being as well.
